Lièwángjìxià 13:1-9

1 Yóudà wáng yà hā xiè de érzi yuē a shī èr shí sān nián , yé hù de érzi yuē hā sī zaì sǎ Mǎlìyà dēng jī zuò Yǐsèliè wáng shí qī nián .

2 Yuē hā sī xíng Yēhéhuá yǎn zhōng kàn wéi è de shì , xiàofǎ ní bā de érzi Yéluóbōān shǐ Yǐsèliè rén xiàn zaì zuì lǐ de nà zuì , zǒng bù líkāi .

3 Yúshì , Yēhéhuá de nùqì xiàng Yǐsèliè rén fā zuò , jiāng tāmen lǚcì jiāo zaì Yàlán wáng hā xuē hé tā érzi biàn Hādá de shǒu lǐ .

4 Yuē hā sī kĕnqiú Yēhéhuá , Yēhéhuá jiù yīngyún tā , yīnwei jiàn Yǐsèliè rén suǒ shòu Yàlán wáng de qīyē .

5 Yēhéhuá cìgĕi Yǐsèliè rén yī wèi zhĕngjiù zhĕ , shǐ tāmen tuōlí Yàlán rén de shǒu . yúshì Yǐsèliè rén réngjiù ān jū zaì jiā lǐ .

6 Ránér tāmen bù líkāi Yéluóbōān jiā shǐ Yǐsèliè rén xiàn zaì zuì lǐ de nà zuì , réngrán qù xíng , bìngqiĕ zaì sǎ Mǎlìyà liú xià yà shĕ là .

7 Yàlán wáng mièjué yuē hā sī de mín , jiàntà tāmen rú hécháng shàng de chén shā , zhǐ gĕi yuē hā sī liú xià wǔ shí mǎ bīng , shí liàng zhàn chē , yī wàn bù bīng .

8 Yuē hā sī qíyú de shì , fán tā suǒ xíng de hé tāde yǒng lì dōu xiĕ zaì Yǐsèliè zhū wáng jì shàng .

9 Yuē hā sī yǔ tā lièzǔ tóng shuì , zàng zaì sǎ Mǎlìyà . tā érzi yuē a shī jiēxù tā zuò wáng .

Lièwángjìxià 13:1-9 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO 2 KINGS 13

This chapter gives an account of the wicked reign of Jehoahaz son of Jehu king of Israel, and of the low estate he was brought into by the Syrians, 2Ki 13:1-9, and of the reign of his son Joash, 2Ki 13:10-13, and of the sickness and death of Elisha; of the visit Joash made him in his sickness; and of his prediction of the king's success against the Syrians; and of the reviving of a dead man cast into the prophet's sepulchre, 2Ki 13:14-21 and of the success of Joash against the Syrians, according to the prediction of the prophet, 2Ki 13:22-25.

\\Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria\\; whereas Joash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and Jehu reigned but twenty eight years, 2Ki 10:36, and 2Ki 12:1, this could be but the twenty first of Joash; to reconcile which it must be observed, that it was at the beginning of the seventh year of Jehu that Joash began to reign, and at the beginning of the twenty third of Joash that Jehoahaz began to reign, as the Jewish commentators observe:
